Peru's President attends handover ceremony of PPE to firefighters

Peruvian President Francisco Sagasti on Tuesday morning attended a ceremony to deliver 939 high-quality personal protective equipment (PPE) items, which will benefit 64 volunteer fire departments in Lima and Callao.

The handover ceremony took place in Lima's Jesus Maria district.

During the event, the Head of State was accompanied by Interior Minister Jose Elice and authorities of the Peruvian General Volunteer Firefighters Department.

The purpose of these personal protective equipment (PPE) items is to protect firefighters as they respond to emergencies.

On Monday, the President met with the members of the Peruvian College of Physicians and highlighted the Government's willingness to hear their proposals to fight COVID-19 in the national territory.


During said event, the Peruvian leader affirmed that Barrios' assumption of office constitutes a historic event for the country and demonstrates that a trend in gender justice is being consolidated.
