The
President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Monday announced the Government's willingness to establish a working group to address the problems of the Ashaninka population.
During a meeting with the Bajo Urubamba Ashaninka Federation (FABU) at the Executive Branch headquarters, the Head of State affirmed that the Government is open to solve problems hand in hand with local leaders and authorities.
According to the dignitary, the work in favor of the population will be much more effective if local authorities work together with federations and organizations, as well as with the central and regional governments.
"The peoples cannot be isolated. The Satipo-Atalaya highway is highly important and cannot be delayed any longer," he pointed out.
Mr. Castillo announced that he will visit the province of Atalaya in Ucayali region, along with Prime Minister Anibal Torres, before Christmas.
In addition, the President remarked that, in the next few hours, he will travel to the province of Purus, also in Ucayali region.
"The Amazonian peoples should no longer be the country's backyard," he said, noting that many communities have serious trouble communicating and getting around properly.
In this regard, Peru's top official affirmed that teams will be formed by each ministry so that the demands of the Ashaninka population can be prioritized in coordination with leaders and authorities.
