Peru's Presidency: Executive Branch, Indeci conduct monitoring to assess earthquake damage

The Presidency of the Republic has reported that, together with the National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci) and the corresponding ministries, they are conducting monitoring to assess the damage caused by earthquake registered in Arequipa region, southern Peru, today.

Via its official X account, the Presidential Office indicated that said monitoring will enable the development of subsequent actions to mitigate the effects of the seismic movement.


A 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Arequipa region early on Friday and was felt across the entire central coast of Peru.

According to the National Seismological Center report, the earthquake occurred at 00:36:27 on June 28, at a depth of 42 km and 54 km southwest (SW) of Yauca in Caraveli province, Arequipa region.
