Peruvian Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez on Sunday affirmed that the more people vaccinated, the more people protected from COVID-19 in the country.

During the presentation of the Pongo el Hombro (I Lend a Shoulder) campaign —aimed at creating confidence in the vaccination process— she considered it important that more and more Peruvians become aware that vaccination is "our weapon of salvation."

According to the Cabinet chief, immunization will be the key to meeting with family or friends, and will allow the resumption of daily activities, as well as economic recovery.

After emphasizing that the Government has provided safe vaccines to protect life, she asked every vaccinated individual to become a spokesperson on health, so that more people can be immunized.

"The more people vaccinated, the more people protected from the pandemic. Together we will win. To do so, the largest number of people must be vaccinated," she explained.

The prime minister remarked that over 60 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been purchased to date, which will provide additional capacity to vaccinate people over the age of 18.

She went on to say that the vaccination of people with Down syndrome will begin on Tuesday, while the immunization of patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment will start on Wednesday.

"This Government works —with confidence and hope— to safeguard the life and health of people," Bermudez said.
