Peruvian Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez on Thursday affirmed that the best gift this holiday season means protecting one's own health and that of family members by not exposing them to the risk of COVID-19 contagion.

"Give health to others," she wrote on Twitter.

Similarly, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers wished citizens a Merry Christmas, reminding them that the best gift any person can give to loved ones is by protecting one another.

"Give health on these holidays of love, harmony, and hope!" it expressed.

On the occasion, the Peruvian Government recommends avoiding meetings with family and friends —who do not live in the same household— as well as disinfecting hands by washing them or using alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

It also suggests the use of technological tools to greet loved ones.
