Peru's PM meets with U.S. Senate Subcommittee Chair

Joined by a Peruvian delegation, Prime Minister Alberto Otarola held a meeting with United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee's Western Hemisphere Subcommittee Chairman Tim Kaine in Washington D.C.


During the meeting, the prime minister presented Peru's efforts in the fight against drug trafficking.

"This (drug trafficking) is a threat against the security and democratic stability of our country and the continent," he stated.

In turn, U.S. Senator Kaine recognized Peruvian efforts in the fight against drug trafficking and committed to strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Furthermore, he highlighted Peru's participation in the Multinational Security Mission in Haiti.

Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Minister Gervasi underscored the importance of the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity (APEP), a North American initiative which will be key to directing new and greater investments from the United States in Peru.

At this meeting, Otarola highlighted the investment opportunities offered by Peru, especially in sustainable infrastructure that contributes to closing social gaps and addressing the population's urgent needs.
