Peruvian Prime Minister Walter Martos held a meeting with South Korean Ambassador to Peru Yungjoon JO in order to coordinate the implementation of technology projects required to fight the pandemic and promote the economic reactivation in the South American nation.

"We are very grateful to the Korean Government for the support they have provided to Peru through the implementation of the Korea-Peru e-Government Cooperation Center, which has enabled progress in the digitalization of public services and the development of applications, in the context of the fight against the pandemic," he said.

The Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM), through the e-Government Secretariat, leads the process of digital transformation in the country, whose urgency has become more evident during the state of national emergency.

As part of this process, a concrete agenda of projects has been developed with the Korean Cooperation since 2017, which speeds up the design of the National Cyber Security Center, the digital transformation of the State, the National Data Center, and the promotion of technology for smart cities in Peru.

A National Center for Digital Innovation will be made available in this new collaboration phase. Its implementation will promote the use of data science and artificial intelligence to accelerate the use of digital technologies in favor of the general well-being of the population.

"We have built the foundations to move forward in the digitalization of the country. For this reason, we are convinced that we will be able to continue these collaborative efforts between countries to further intensify the fight against the pandemic, the economic reactivation, and the digital transformation in favor of citizens," the Cabinet chief concluded.

Collaboration between countries is key to cope with the pandemic and promote the economic reactivation amid the health emergency.

In this sense, South Korea —in its capacity as one of the leading countries in digital transformation in the world— becomes a key strategic ally of Peru in terms of digital transformation.
