Peru's PM highlights Bicentennial Volunteers' solidarity force

18:05 | Lima, Apr. 2.

Peru's Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez on Friday noted that the Bicentennial Volunteers program is a great solidarity force in favor of people who most need support in the country.

Remarks were made at the official launch of the "Virtual Learning Community," through which 24 courses on citizenship, social leadership, communication, among others, will be offered to Peruvians residing in the country and overseas.

According to the government official, these courses will be focused on the formation of civic values, as well as on a series of educational audiovisual tools and resources, and on the knowledge of solidarity initiatives and experiences.

Such courses will be free and six of them will be translated into Quechua.

The "Virtual Learning Community" will become the largest digital meeting space for volunteers developed in Peru.

Its aim is to contribute to the professionalization of the country as the 200th anniversary of Peru's independence approaches.

A certificate of participation will be delivered at the end of each course, on behalf of the Special Bicentennial Project, which includes detailed information on the hours and lessons learned.

The Prime Minister noted that the COVID-19 pandemic "was a test for us to show how supportive people in Peru are."
