Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola has affirmed that the Executive Branch is confident that the Congress of the Republic will grant it special powers to legislate on public safety.
"We are sure that Congress will support us on this matter. Nearly 30 regulations will be modified to face this crisis," he said in an interview with Panorama on Sunday.
Moreover, the Cabinet chief noted that for the Government is working on priority sectors like education, poverty, health, infrastructure and the fight against organized crime.
The high-ranking official noted a national deficit of 50,000 police agents, adding that the interest among young people to join the Peruvian National Police has decreased over time.
In this regard, the proposal for creating a Public Order and Safety Police category will result in a rapid recruitment of new agents, as well as students graduated from the voluntary military service.
As is known, the aforementioned proposal was announced by the President of the Republic Dina Boluarte in her recent Address to the Nation on the occasion of Peru's 202nd Independence Day Anniversary.
"Through this modality, this year We could start by recruiting 5,000 new police agents, who are required in large cities but also in small ones. They will receive adequate training. These young people will join the police service through a special contract mode," he remarked.
Investment
On the other hand, the head of the Ministerial Cabinet affirmed that Peru will maintain its economic stability and the necessary reliability for investors.
"We will keep fiscal rules in place, and the economic policy will not be modified […]," he added.
