on Tuesday reiterated that the Government respects the Armed Forces.
During her presentation before Congress' Constitution Commission, the Cabinet Chief stressed that the Armed Forces constitute an important strategic actor for the protection of the Peruvian State's sovereignty.
"We want to reaffirm the respect we have and our attitude of non-interference in the decisions made from within," she expressed.
Regarding the situations denounced by former general commanders of the Army and Air Force, the high-ranking official said decisions are being made which respond to the concern of the population and various political sectors.
"I would ask that in the next few hours we can be attentive to the decisions made by the Executive Branch, by the President of the Republic and Cabinet members," she said.
Before the commission, the Cabinet chief presented the bill issued by the Executive Branch which seeks to regulate the confidence motion and presidential impeachment proceedings for the sake of governability.
According to the high-ranking official, the regulation of these two items included in the Political Constitution will generate the conditions for an adequate balance of powers in Peru.
With this, the relationship of confidence between the Executive and Legislative Branches will also be strengthened without neglecting the oversight function of Parliament, she underlined.
