Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola has reiterated Peru's commitment to democratic institutions and the Government's full readiness to continue collaborating with the Inter-American system.

His remarks were delivered during a meeting with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR).

"We reaffirm our commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights and liberties framed by the Political Constitution, the National Agreement and international instruments," the Cabinet chief said from Washington D.C.

Likewise, the head of the Ministerial Cabinet emphasized that Peru collaborates with the organs of the Inter-American Human Rights System.

"Peru has always played a leading role in the works of the Organization of American States (OAS) and collaborates with the Inter-American Human Rights System, which is made up of two organs: The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, being one of the States with the highest participation in these organs," he stated.

In this regard, Otarola expressed the Government's full readiness to continue collaborating with the Inter-American system.

The meeting saw the participation of IACHR President Margarette May Macaulay, as well as Ministers Ana Cecilia Gervasi (Foreign Affairs), Eduardo Arana (Justice and Human Rights), and Leslie Urteaga (Culture).
