Peru's Prime Minister Walter Martos and Congress Chairman Manuel Merino met on Thursday to discuss the issues to be addressed by the plenary session on agriculture.

Martos was joined by Agriculture Minister Jorge Montenegro, who participated in the meeting held at the Parliament headquarters.

The two-day plenary session on agriculture will take place on October 15 and 16.

The agenda will consider the bill to promote the development of markets; the bill to promote, disseminate, and encourage the consumption of Peruvian coffee Cafetea Peru; and the bill to create the Single National Registry of Coffee Producers.

Likewise, the session will discuss a proposal to create a special pension system for farmers; the law to promote the strengthening of Agrobanco's capital; and the law to declare of public necessity and national interest the implementation of the emergency fund Reactiva Agro, so as to promote the rescue and reactivation of family agriculture.

Moreover, participants will discuss the bill to promote the creation and implementation of the digital platform "Virtual Market of Agricultural Products" and the law on physical-legal clearance and formalization of rural properties —by regional governments— of agricultural producers, to incorporate the implementation of itinerant markets, among other issues.
