Peruvian forward Claudio Pizarro on Sunday announced his return to Werder Bremen, where he plans to end his career.

In this sense, the 39-year-old athlete signed a contract with the Bundesliga club.

"I'm delighted to have the chance to join the team (once) again, and to finish my career with the club I started my career in Europe," the sportsman told the club's official website.

"The most important thing for me is my role as player with my soccer ability, and the goals I provide (…) also to settle in quickly and of course help out the team," he added.

It must be noted Pizarro played for F.C. Köln in the 2017-2018 season.

"He will have a good influence in the dressing room with his positive energy, conviction, and hunger for success," Bremen coach Florian Kohfeldt pointed out.

"(…) Claudio is a legend, and he will get his moments this season," he added.

As is known, the Andean Bomber first wore Bremen's green-white jersey back in 1999 and —subsequently— returned to the club in 2008, 2009, and 2015.

Pizarro —who had also defended Bayern Munich— has played 446 Bundesliga matches. Likewise, he is the top foreign striker in German league's history with 192 goals.
