reported that the Executive Branch is preparing initiatives to continue facilitating mining exploration permits, considering that this activity is vital to securing and advancing new projects in the sector.
"Clearly, exploration is vital to securing and advancing mining projects. We have several initiatives, which we will launch very soon, aimed at further facilitating permits in the mining sector," he noted during the launch of Perumin 38.
The event was held at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Lima on Wednesday evening.
The government official said the Executive Branch, through the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), is focused on regulating the entire sector, not only mining but also energy.
The Cabinet member indicated that the Government will work to ensure that each mining project can move forward as swiftly as possible.
Hydrocarbons legal framework reform
Minister Shinno said the hydrocarbons sector requires a reform of its legal framework due to the decline in exploration, with the aim of improving its competitiveness and attracting investment.
"Everyone knows that exploration in the hydrocarbons sector has gone down, and we have to reform our legal framework in order to be competitive with the countries of the region, in order to continue attracting investment that will increase our reserves, in this case of oil as well as natural gas," he stated.
Growth target
The minister mentioned one of the Government's objectives is to achieve 6% economic growth.
To this end, he said investment projects need to enter the corresponding framework.
"Our objective is to grow by 6%; there is no other way than for all investment projects to enter our framework in order to achieve that growth level," Shinno indicated.
Likewise, he wished Perumin 38 every success and thanked those who attended the launch event.
Perumin 38
Perumin 38 has the motto "Integration and Formalization for Regional Development."
It seeks to promote coordination among the Peruvian State, companies, academia, and civil society to harness the opportunities generated by global demand for critical minerals.
The minister highlighted the participation of the United States as an allied country at this edition.
He also said the event will help create new opportunities for cooperation and investment.
"We are certain that Perumin will help open new opportunities for cooperation and investment, both in mining and in the energy sector, as well as in other areas," Shinno stated.
Moreover, Shinno congratulated the Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru (IIMP), as well as the Perumin 38 organizers, on holding the event.
Lastly, he highlighted the importance of continuing to strengthen partnerships between investors and the State.
Perumin 38 will gather professionals, authorities, businesspeople, and representatives from academia and civil society from September 20 to 24, 2027.
The event will take place at Cerro Juli Convention Center in Peru's southern city of Arequipa.
