Peru's Melchor shines at 2018 Fitbit Miami Half Marathon

Peruvian runner Ines Melchor ended second in the 2018 Fitbit Miami Half Marathon's female category.

The national sportswoman clocked a time of 1 hour 16 minutes 44 seconds, thus grabbing the second spot at competition. She was followed by Russian Marina Khmelevskaya (1:19.51). 

The women's division was won by Ethiopian Firegenet Mandefiro (1:16.35).

"I'm happy with my first performance of this year, I'm getting in good shape. I thank my fans who give me the daily energy with their support […]," the 31-year-old athlete said. 

The event took place in Miami last Sunday.

It must be noted this competition was Melchor's first step in her preparation for Spain's Valencia Half Marathon taking place in March.
