Peru’s McFarlane takes gold in 110-meter hurdles

Peruvian Jorge McFarlane set new national record of 13.53 seconds capturing gold medal in the 110-meter hurdles at the 16th Ibero-American Championship in Athletics held in São Paulo, Brazil.

His brother, Javier McFarlane, won the silver clocking 13.57 seconds in the same category.

The Icaro de Castro Mello stadium in São Paulo witnessed the great achievements of Peruvian athletes coached by Oscar Valiente.

This recognition joins the other two gold medals obtained by Peruvian athletes Ines Melchor and Andy Martinez at the Ibero-American Championship.

Marathoner Ines Melchor claimed a gold medal for Peru after winning the 5,000 meters in 15:58.85.

Likewise, Andy Martinez took gold in the 100 meters, beating national record with the time of 10 minutes and 30 seconds.

Peruvian athletes were given silver and bronze medals as well; total surpasses the number of medals won at preceding championships.
