Juan Diego Florez may not be well-known in Oman, but the audience at the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) realized they were listening to a unique talent on Wednesday evening.

The Peruvian tenor, who was accompanied by the National Orchestra of Spain, is well-known in the opera world for his agile voice, which can hit high notes with ease, though for many in Oman he was a new voice.

But as soon as his voice soared to the high C and D notes, it was soon appreciated with loud applause and cheers from a very impressed crowd, Times of Oman reports.

"Since I was invited to sing at the Royal Opera House, I have looked forward to coming to perform there. It is not only my first time performing in Oman, but also in the whole region," Florez said before the concert.

Highlights of the show included two arias by Gaetano Donizetti, the first being Una Furtiva Lagrima, which is an emotional aria from The Elixir of Love, and Ah! Mes Amis, from La Fille du Rregiment (The Daughter of the Regiment), in which Florez hit nine high Cs.

"Music is present in every culture, and by bringing closer one culture's music, you are also bringing closer that culture as a whole," he told Times of Oman in a recent interview.
