Peru's Health Ministry: 36 hospitalized, 5 medical discharges during social protests

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) on Saturday reported that 36 hospitalizations and 5 medical discharges have been registered since the beginning of the latest public protests (from January 4 to date) at the national level.


Of the total number of hospitalized patients, 34 are in Peru's southern Puno region, 1 in Arequipa, and 1 in Apurímac.

All patients receive permanent medical attention, Minsa specified.


Regarding the 5 medical discharges, 2 are registered in Lima, 1 in Arequipa, and 2 in Junin region.

Minsa reiterated its call for social calm in Peru, renewing its commitment to take care of the health of all citizens whose integrity is affected.

It added that Minsa's Emergency Operations Center team is constantly monitoring and managing verified information.
