The consulting firm Maximixe estimated today that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) would reach 12.5 billion dollars in 2009 and 17.5 billion in 2010 in Peru, bearing in mind, in a very optimistic scenario, the impact that the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC), held last November in Peru, will cause in the future.
While in a moderate scenario, FDI in Peru would rise to 10.15 billion dollars in 2009 and 12.7 billion in 2010 due to 2008 APEC meetings, it stated.

It recalled that BCR expects a FDI flow of 7.8 billion dollars in 2009 and 7.9 billion in 2010 without considering APEC impact, that is to say, it estimates a step backwards compared to 8.4 million expected at the end of 2008.

Then, the cumulative impact of APEC in the next two years would be 7.15 billion dollars, in a moderate scenario, an amount close to the annual average flow registered in the past three years, said the president of Maximixe Jorge Chavez.

In regards, he stressed on the enormous achievements made by Peru hosting APEC Summit, but what he most highlights is Peru's  boosting as host country for investment since its impact will be reflected in a greater flow of FDI during the upcoming years.
