Economy and Finance Minister Jose Antonio Salardi participated in the transfer of office ceremony alongside his predecessor, Jose Arista, who left the institution after almost one year in office.

The new Cabinet member called on the sector's officials to continue fostering Peruvian growth and development.

"We know that we have the issue of the (fiscal) deficit as a major challenge for this year, to continue with constant growth. That will be the line of action, to be able to work together, and achieve these objectives," he emphasized on Monday.

The ceremony was attended by officials from the Ministry and the heads of agencies attached to the Economy and Finance sector, such as the Superintendence of Securities Market (SMV), the National Superintendence of Tax Administration (Sunat), and the Government Procurement Supervisory Agency (OSCE).

Also participating were representatives from the Pension Normalization Office (ONP), the Central Public Procurement Office (Perú Compras), the Bank of Nation (BN), and the National Fund for the Financing of State Entrepreneurial Activities (Fonafe).

Ex-Minister Arista expressed best wishes for success to the successor in his role at the head of the Ministry of Economy-Finance, highlighting his professional and academic profile and emphasizing the broad sense of collaboration of the institution's staff.

It is worth noting that Minister Salardi had until recently held the position of Executive Director at the State-run Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversion).

Similarly, he acted as Production Minister and Deputy MSE Minister at the Production Ministry, and as member of the board of directors at the State-run Peruvian Corporation of Airports and Commercial Aviation (Corpac).

Likewise, Salardi chaired the board of directors of the Technical Agency for the Management of Sanitation Services (OTASS), the Pro-Social Committee at ProInversion, the board of the Municipal Markets Company at the Municipality of Lima (EMMSA), and the Committee for Investments in Construction and Sanitation at the Ministry of Housing, Construction, and Sanitation (MVCS).

He was also General Director at the General Directorate of Programs and Projects in Construction and Sanitation at the Ministry of Housing, Construction, and Sanitation; General Director of Programs and Projects at the Ministry of Transportation and Communications; and Deputy Manager for Tariff Regulation at the National Superintendence of Sanitation Services (SUNASS).
