announced that he is in a frank recovery from the knee surgery he had undergone months ago. For now, the star hopes to play in South America in 2021 as he does not want to be away from his family anymore.
"I am recovering from a complicated injury I had (…). Thank God I am feeling better and better, training every day at home, and preparing for what is to come,"
the athlete said in remarks to Latina TV channel.
Then, ‘The Seal’ referred to his soccer career.
"I want to play here in South America, obviously I no longer want to be away from my relatives and my mother. I have already been far away for 16 years, and now I really enjoy (spending time with) my relatives and my children, as well as the special dates that were previously complicated due to the soccer gatherings and the trips I had to make. For now, I have decided to stay in South America," he expressed.
When asked if the North American Major League Soccer (MLS) could be an option for him to resume his career, the 36-year-old pointed out that "it could be, but I want to be closer to my family."
As is known, 'Jeffrey' played for the following teams: Alianza Lima (Peru), PSV Eindhoven (the Netherlands), FC Schalke 04 (Germany), Al-Jazira FC (United Arab Emirates), and
FC Lokomotiv Moscow (Russia) in past seasons.
