12:08 | Miami (U.S.), Mar. 15.

Within the framework of his working visit to the United States, Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea participated in the official activity for the arrival of Peruvian Navy's BAP Union sailing training ship to the Port of Miami, noting that this ship "constitutes an example of national unity."

At the ceremony, the government official highlighted that the sailing training ship, tagged as the largest training ship in Latin America, has made stops in Tahiti, Guam, Tokyo, Busan, Singapore, Shanghai, Bombay and Mumbai

Travelling through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, it continued its voyage to Taranto, Civitavecchia, La Spezia, Piraeus, Toulon, Malaga, and Baltimore.

"Now, it is here with us. On its trip to the emblematic Port of Callao, BAP Union will stop in Kingston, Curacao, cross the Panama Canal with a stop in Balboa and, after having sailed for more than 300 days, it will return home having dazzled more than 70,000 visitors with its 34 beautiful sails," Gonzalez-Olaechea highlighted.

Likewise, the State minister affirmed that each port has provided a privileged opportunity to make the world more aware of Peru's benefits and opportunities, as well as an opportunity to strengthen naval, cultural, diplomatic and commercial ties in the visited nations.

"Thus, the training voyage of our training ship is much more than a sea crossing, it is a testimony of our commitment to promoting peace, cooperation, and mutual understanding," he emphasized.

In his speech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs also referred to its historical process of construction, noting that "the expectation and spirit generated by the armor of this ship is a vital testimony of what Jorge Basadre called the Promise of Peruvian Life," because its four masts evoke the spirit of Peru's greatest naval hero: Miguel Grau.

Finally, the Cabinet member expressed gratitude to the Chief of Staff of the Peruvian Navy, Vice Admiral Ernesto Colunge; the BAP Union commander, Captain Jose Arce Corso; and every crewmember.

Furthermore, he underscored that two diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru are sailing aboard the ship
