Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Cesar Landa on Monday held a meeting with Andean Community (CAN) Secretary-General Jorge Pedraza, within the framework of preparatory activities for the upcoming Pro Tempore Presidency of the Andean Community, under Peru's administration.

In a post on Twitter, the government department stated that both authorities agreed to undertake joint efforts to generate concrete results of public value for citizens of member countries.

Moreover, Minister Landa emphasized that Peru's work plan will promote the Andean Community's social dimension to bring benefits closer to citizens.

For his part, Pedraza reiterated his willingness to continue working together and proposed actions to be carried out in a decentralized manner.

The Secretary-General's initiative, "the Andean Community to the region," implies developing activities in the regions of the country, in terms of interconnection and connectivity, border development, indigenous peoples, Afro-descendants, support for SMEs, trade facilitation, tourism, among others.

Peru will assume the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Andean Community for the 2022-2023 period, with a social and pragmatic approach aimed at delivering concrete and relevant results for the population.

The Andean Community is an international organization composed of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, which aims to achieve balanced and autonomous comprehensive development of its member countries through regional integration.
