Diego Elias was crowned champion of the U-19 Pan American Junior Squash Championship on Thursday in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Thus, the Peruvian has won his second U-19 title by beating the Mexican Edgar Sayas in 5 sets with the following partials 8-11, 10-12, 11-4, 11-2 and 12-10.
Elias earned the gold by overcoming an adverse score of 0-2 and sealing the tile.
To reach the final, Elias defeated the Uruguayan Luiggi Orozco in the tournament’s second round (3-0), while in the third round he got a victory over Argentina’s Rodrigo Obregon (2-0).
In quarterfinals, Peru's squash player beat Colombia’s Andres de Frutos (3 - 0) and in semifinals did the same with Guatamala’s Joshua Enriquez (3-0).
