The chairmen of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies of the Congress of the Republic declared the first regular legislative session of their respective chambers officially installed during sessions held on Monday morning.
The Senate session took place shortly after 10:00 a.m. (local time). It was chaired by Senate Chairman Miguel Torres.
Following the reading of Article 16 of the Senate Regulations, as well as of Articles 43 and 44 of Congress Regulations, the chairman officially declared the first regular legislative session of the 2026-2027 annual session installed. It runs from July 27 to December 15.
Torres also summoned senators to the installation session of the Congress of the Republic, which was held at noon.
The swearing-in ceremony for Peru's representatives to the Andean Parliament took place during that event.
Chamber of Deputies installation
The installation session of the Chamber of Deputies was held at 11:00 a.m. (local time). It was chaired by Chairman Oscar Reto.
Article 16 of the Chamber of Deputies Regulations and the corresponding two articles of Congress' Regulations were then read, after which Reto declared the first regular legislative session of the Chamber of Deputies officially installed.
Congress installation
At noon, as announced, the installation session of the Parliament was held in the plenary chamber. It was chaired by Miguel Torres, Congress Chairman in his capacity as Senate head.
After formally declaring the closure of the Parliament's Preparatory Committee and ordering the reading of the relevant articles of Congress Regulations, he officially declared the first regular legislative session of the 2026-2027 annual session installed.
The swearing-in ceremony for the elected principal and alternate members of the Andean Parliament was held afterwards.
