On its journey through Mediterranean Sea waters, the Peruvian Navy's BAP Union sailing training ship arrived at the Port of Tangier in the Kingdom of Morocco on January 26.

This is the 15th landfall point of the historic voyage around the world by this ship, as part of the VIEX 2023-2024 training journey abroad for naval cadets.

The arrival took place amid a significant welcome ceremony by local authorities, Peru's Embassy representatives, and Peruvian community members settled in the northwest African country.

During the five-day stay at port, the crew will carry out protocol and cultural activities.

Likewise, in its capacity as an Itinerant Embassy, the BAP Union will showcase Peru Brand export products, gastronomy, and tourist attractions on board.

At a press conference held on board, BAP Union Commander, Captain Jose Luis Arce Corzo, highlighted the historic visit to Morocco, which will contribute to cementing relations of friendship and cooperation between both countries' Navies and nations.

The Peruvian ship will remain moored at the local dock until January 30.

It has opened its doors from January 27 to 29 to welcome visitors on board, including locals and Peruvian community members, who will have the opportunity to learn about the sailing ship's characteristics and capabilities, as well as about the naval institution's traditions and culture.

The BAP Union arrived in Tangier after crossing the Strait of Gibraltar from Malaga, Spain.

At the end of its visit, the sailing ship will return to Spanish waters. It will put in at the Port of Cadiz, to which it will come back for the second time.
