Peru's Attorney General Juan Carlos Villena on Wednesday affirmed that his sector is not against the idea of reforming the Justice System, but noted that this must entail specific changes in the Organic Law of the Public Ministry.

In statements to the press, he stressed that these changes constitute a priority objective of the Justice System's reform.

"It is in this area where, we think, such changes must be made, through the Organic Law of the Public Ministry," the Attorney General remarked.

In this regard, he noted that his office is not against a reform of the Justice System.

About complaints

Regarding the proceedings that, due to alleged irregularities, are being brought against prosecutors and Public Ministry's members, Villena noted that these must be conducted by the corresponding bodies.

"We continue to undertake the investigations," Villena stated.

When asked about eventual complaints against various public figures and officials, the Attorney General indicated that his office is moving forward with those proceedings, adding that the time to make decisions is coming.

In this sense, Villena underscored that he will submit the corresponding constitutional complaints at the right time.
