Ambassador Manuel Gerardo Talavera Espinar has presented to Canada's Governor General Mary Simon the credentials that accredit him as Ambassador of Peru to Canada.

The ceremony took place on Monday, September 25, at Rideau Hall, the residence and workplace of the governor general located in the city of Ottawa, which was followed by a private meeting.

During the gathering, the Peruvian envoy conveyed greetings from the President of the Republic Dina Boluarte.

The message highlighted the fact that both authorities have achieved leadership positions in the politics and public service of their countries, which reflects a trend towards gender inclusion in senior roles in their respective nations.

Likewise, the Ambassador and the Governor General stressed the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between Peru and Canada, which will reach the 80th anniversary in 2024.

Moreover, they hoped that Peru and Canada will continue to strengthen their existing ties in political-diplomatic and economic-trade fields, as well as in investment and tourism.

For its part and via social media, the office of Canada's Governor General stressed the importance of these ceremonies for countries' diplomatic ties.

"Letters of credence ceremonies are one way of reaffirming our nation’s long-standing diplomatic ties," reads the post.
