Diplomat Rolando Ruiz Rosas Cateriano has presented his credential letters as Peruvian Ambassador to France to the host country's President, Emmanuel Macron, the Peruvian Foreign Affairs Ministry has reported.

The corresponding ceremony was held at the Elysee Palace in the French capital.

On the occasion, the envoy reiterated President Castillo's congratulations to President Macron on his re-election and highlighted the shared values both at the bilateral level, which are based on democracy, respect for the rule of law and international law, as well as at the multilateral level.

In this sense, concerted action, as was the case of the COP 20 in Lima and the COP 21 in Paris, made it possible to reach a historic agreement on environmental matters.

Similarly, Ambassador Ruiz Rosas mentioned the diversity of ties in political, academic, educational, economic, commercial, and cooperation matters that shape the bilateral relationship —whose strengthening was expressly encouraged by the French President, who was also thankful for the invitation to visit Peru.

The presentation of credential letters on July 22 brought together 26 new ambassadors from countries on 5 continents —24 of them residing in Paris. It was the first of such events held since November 2021.

At the beginning of this ceremony, President Macron made a brief address on France's international position and the challenges of the global agenda, highlighting the professional capacity of diplomacy to work on these and other tasks with the new ambassadors and the countries represented by them.
