Judge Richard Concepcion Carhuancho on Wednesday concluded the intermediate stage referring to indictment control in the Interoceanic case, a process that involves
Peru's ex-President Alejandro Toledo.
Moreover, the magistrate —head of the First National Preparatory Investigation Court— announced that he will issue the prosecution order in the aforementioned case in the coming days, which will be sent to the corresponding criminal collegiate division.
"Today I announce that we have concluded the intermediate stage in the Interoceanic case, the case of Alejandro Toledo Manrique, and others. This case is already expedited to issue the prosecution order," Concepcion Carhuancho said at the end of the hearing held this morning.
"We will only complete some internal procedures regarding the appeals for the submission of the files, and the prosecution order (in the Interoceanic case) will be issued in the coming days," the magistrate stated.
"Judge Richard Concepcion Carhuancho concluded this morning the intermediate stage referring to indictment control in the Interoceanic case, in which former President Alejandro Toledo and others are being prosecuted for the crime of money laundering," the Judiciary posted on Twitter.
The aforementioned process involves the former president and six other co-defendants, who are accused of allegedly committing the crimes of collusion and money laundering.
The Prosecutor's Office demands 20 years and 6 months in prison against Alejandro Toledo, for having allegedly received a bribe worth US$35 million from Brazilian construction companies to favor them in the bidding for the South Interoceanic Highway, while he was President of the Republic (2001-2006).
