Political groups that requested the formation of an alliance will have until September 1, 2025, for it to be formally registered to take part in the
2026 General Elections.
This is another milestone set out in the electoral schedule established by the National Elections Board (JNE) within the framework of said electoral process.
Five alliances submitted their registration applications to the National Directorate of Political Organizations Registry (DNROP).
"From that moment until September 1, the JNE will evaluate each application and determine which of these alliances are formally registered and eligible to continue in the race," the top electoral body stated in a video.
In addition, the JNE explained what happens if the groups fail to have their respective alliances registered by that date.
In this regard, it is noted that these political organizations can still take part in the April 2026 elections, but in this case individually, provided they meet the legal requirements and deadlines set in the electoral schedule.
Lastly, the JNE reminded that it will operate every day in August, including holidays, to expedite the registration of electoral alliances.
It should be noted that the electoral alliance Ahora Nacion (Now Nation), formed by the political parties Ahora Nacion and Salvemos al Peru (Let's Save Peru), confirmed the withdrawal of its request on August 15, leaving only four alliances in the process.
The General Elections will be held on April 12, 2026, with a potential runoff for the presidential race scheduled for June 7 of the same year.
