Peru: World's largest tapestry exhibited in Cusco region

00:00 | Cusco (Cusco region), Jun. 29.

The world's largest tapestry was recently exhibited at Sacsayhuaman Fortress, Coricancha's esplanade, and in other emblematic locations in Cusco, within the framework of its jubilee month celebrations.

This impressive tapestry —featuring Andean figures— broke a Guinness World Record in November 2018. It measures 288.55 square meters

Twelve craftswomen —at Pallpata's alpaca fiber and sheep wool plant— diligently prepared the artwork during three months.

Using ancient techniques, they turned over 250 kg raw wool into yarn until they had sewn together a truly impressive work of art.

"This exhibition in Cusco is a recognition of the work done by the artisans and the effort of Espinar Province's sheep farmers," Antapaccay mining company General Manager Carlos Cotera expressed.

It should be noted Antapaccay mining company organized the creation of the tapestry.

It will be exhibited at Kanamarka Archaeological Site (Espinar Province) in the upcoming days.
