The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Sunday affirmed that he will ask his Brazilian counterpart Jair Bolsonaro to hold a binational cabinet in order to promote the development of towns in the border area shared by both countries.

The Head of State emphasized that he will hold a meeting with the Brazilian president this week.

Remarks were made in Caballococha, where he met with members of the population and local authorities.

"There are common demands in the country's largest border area, and I will sit down to talk and assist the population, so that people do not misunderstand and say we are going against sovereignty," Mr. Castillo stated.

"We are authentically Peruvian, we feel and live like Peruvians," he added.

According to the Peruvian President, he will request a binational cabinet in order to include the participation of State ministers, as well as leaders and mayors from provinces in the border area.

Mr. Castillo arrived in Caballococha this morning joined by Ministers Pedro Francke (Economy and Finance), Hernando Cevallos (Health), and Anahi Durand (Women).

As part of his first activity in said city, he supervised the COVID-19 vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 years. The activity took place at Mariscal Ramon Public Technological Educational Institute.
