As of May 20, Peru will declare an epidemiological alert in the face of an increase in cases of monkeypox registered in other countries around the world.
The measure aims to establish preventive and monitoring measures on the population in the event of the entry of that disease to the South American country,
Health Minister Jorge Lopez announced.
"We are declaring the alert; we must generate it starting tomorrow. We still have not registered any cases (of monkeypox in Peru); however, the alert is already being declared to prevent any eventuality," Lopez indicated.
Likewise, he said that Minsa has been evaluating the possibility of acquiring vaccines to inoculate the population against monkeypox.
The Health minister participated this morning in the delivery of equipment to strengthen the operation of telehealth services at the primary care level.
The ceremony took place at Minsa's central warehouse in Lima.
