The
Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) reported that Peru received 4,157,469 international visitors by the end of 2025, a 4.1% increase compared with 2024, as well as a recovery to 78.8% of pre-pandemic levels.
The government agency noted that this performance confirms the sector's sustained progress and the strengthening of Peru's positioning on the international stage.
Of the total number of international visitors, 3,416,464 were tourists and 741,005 were excursionists.
Tourists accounted for 82.2% of total inflow, underscoring a solid recovery in inbound tourism.
On a year-on-year basis, international tourist arrivals increased by 4.9%, with an additional inflow of nearly 160,000 tourists compared with 2024, and a recovery to 78.1% of 2019 levels.
Pre-pandemic levels
However, Mincetur noted that tourist arrivals from some source markets have already recovered to pre-pandemic levels.
This is the case for Brazil (+9.5%), Bolivia (+2.6%), the People's Republic of China (+7.3%), Costa Rica (+15.3%), Poland (+42.6%), the Dominican Republic (+55.5%), Guatemala (+50.8%), India (+15.4%), and El Salvador (+67%), among others.
Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Teresa Mera stressed that these results, presented in the Mincetur Monthly Tourism Report, reflect the positive impact of public policies and close coordination with the private sector in support of Peru's national tourism value chain.
"The growth of international tourism confirms that Peru is moving forward with steady momentum in its recovery process," the Cabinet member stated.
"From the Government, we maintain a clear commitment to strengthening tourism as a driver of economic development, employment, and opportunity creation for Peruvians," she added.

Source markets
According to the Mincetur Monthly Tourism Report, in terms of source markets, South America accounted for 58.8% of total international visitors, followed by North America (19.7%) and Europe (14.4%). Together, these blocs represented over 92% of total arrivals in Peru.
Chile remained the leading source market with 1,281,858 visitors. It was followed by the United States (628,720), Ecuador (347,373), Bolivia (227,660), Brazil (222,186), and Colombia (193,468).
International visitor arrivals were concentrated mainly through Jorge Chavez International Airport, which handled 56% of the total.
It was followed by the main border control points in Peru's southern and northern regions. This highlights the strategic role of air and land connectivity in the sector's recovery.
On the other hand, outbound tourism also posted a positive performance.
Between January and December 2025, 4,112,096 resident Peruvian travelers—including 3,395,361 Peruvian tourists and 716,735 resident excursionists—traveled abroad.
This represented a 7.5% increase compared with 2024 and a level 13.2% higher than in 2019, confirming the full recovery of international travel.
