The Governments of Peru and the United States on Friday signed a donation agreement for Development Goals, which will be valid until 2026 and allow a contribution from USAID worth US$321 million.

The new agreement —signed within the framework of a 70-year history of bilateral cooperation— will contribute to economic and social development in post-eradication regions to sustain the reduction of coca crops; increasing public integrity to reduce corruption; and strengthening sustainable management of the environment and natural resources to expand socio-economic benefits.

It will also rely on a new Special Objective aimed at greater economic and social integration of migrants and refugees from Venezuela.

Of the US$321 million, US$171 million will be allocated to the bilateral program and US$150 million to the regional one.

This way, Peru continues to promote international technical cooperation programs, projects and activities that complement national efforts to reduce gaps and vulnerabilities existing in Peru with the aim of achieving economic, social, and environmental recovery in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
