The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC) has authorized the use of some roads in Cusco region for rehearsals and shooting of the seventh film in the famous Transformers saga (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts), which for the first time will include Peruvian settings such as the Southern Andean area.

The MTC indicated that the Directorate of Road Circulation has granted permission to use sections of the Piri – Abra Málaga Highway; as well as the Montaña 28B Abra Málaga–Ruta Cusco–Quillabamba Road; and Piri – Alfamayo Road.

Within this framework, the autobots and decepticons of the Transformers universe will travel on these routes.

The authorization for the use of routes by the Hollywood production is valid from October 18 to November 12, 2021.

According to the permit, the film's producer will have to comply with technical considerations and recommendations established by the MTC for the preservation of the aforementioned routes.

Likewise, the team of the high-budget production must complete coordination with the National Police of Peru regarding the circulation of motorized vehicles, so that all the necessary guarantees can be provided for filming works to be carried out safely and without complications.

This way, these Peruvian landscapes will be part of the new adventures of Transformers, whose alien characters will star in new adventures —this time near one of the New Seven Wonders of the World: Machu Picchu.

No restrictions on tourism

The Ministry of Culture affirmed that —during the four days of filming in the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu— there will be no restrictions for tourist activities.

Transformers is a series of science fiction films based on a Japanese saga that started in the 1980s. The recent installment of films in its American version began in 2007.
