Peru: Traditional exports up 174.7% in May 2021

19:34 | Lima, Jul. 12.

Peruvian traditional exports amounted to US$3.545 billion in May 2021, a 174.7% increase compared to the same month last year (up 34.6 from May 2019).

This growth was explained by higher shipped volumes and prices of mining products.

The result shows a year-on-year growth for the ninth month in a row.

Thus, foreign sales of traditional products reached US$16.565 billion in the first five months of 2021, up 68.4% compared to the same period a year earlier, as a result of higher prices of metals, as well as crude oil and oil products.

In the fifth month of 2021, mining and fishing exports continued in positive territory as in April, with the former growing 184.4%, followed by fishing exports, which saw an increase of 176.9%.
