Peru: Traditional exports grew 12.6% year-on-year in April 2022

18:35 | Lima, Jun. 19.

Traditional exports amounted to US$3.893 billion in April this year, up 12.6% compared to the same month in 2021, mainly explained by higher prices of hydrocarbons and minerals, the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) reported on Sunday.

These sales reached a value of US$16.385 billion in the first four-month period of 2022, a 21% growth compared to the same period last year.

This mainly reflected an increase in the prices of metals, natural gas, crude oil and derivatives, as well as coffee.

According to the Central Reserve Bank, the exports of almost all groups stood out in April.

"Of note was the growth in the natural gas sector (570.5%), driven by higher prices, and that of agriculture sector (167.1%)," it stated.

Between January and April, both sectors reached annual growth rates of 356.4% and 339.9% respectively.
