Peru will receive US$5.484 billion in revenue from incoming tourism this year, Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) Executive-President Luis Torres projected on Wednesday.

"The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) foresees 4.8 million visitors from all over the world this year," he said, addressing a large group of Colombian entrepreneurs in Bogota.

Therefore, foreign exchange earnings from tourism will see a 5.35% growth from last year, when they totaled US$5.205 billion, with the arrival of 4.4 million travelers.

"The projections for this year were made in cooperation with the business sector related to the tourism industry," Torres pointed out.

The official affirmed that Mincetur has set the goal of bringing 6 million tourists to Peru in 2025, which will generate US$6.877 billion in revenue.

"We expect the arrival of 10 million visitors in 2030," he added.

Connectivity

In the specific case of Colombia, Torres noted that connectivity facilitates the growth in the flow of tourists between both neighboring countries.

In fact, 98 direct flights link the two countries each week. There are five international routes operating to and from said country: Bogota-Lima, Cali-Lima, Medellin-Lima, Cartagena-Lima, and Bogota-Cusco.
