Peru's national soccer team will play a friendly match against South Korea in August as part of preparations for the next South American World Cup qualifying round.

The Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) announced Thursday that the match will be held in Seoul on August 14, less than a month before Peru faces Uruguay and Venezuela in two crucial qualifiers for Brazil 2014.

With the game falling on a FIFA sanctioned international date, Peru coach Sergio Markarian would likely field a full-strength squad including his foreign-based attacking trio of Claudio Pizarro, Paolo Guerrero and Jefferson Farfan.

"The next match would be a friendly in Korea and then we would go directly to September's qualifiers against Uruguay and Venezuela," Markarian said at a press conference. "It will be a nice game because South Korea are very close to qualifying for the World Cup."

La Blanquirroja is currently seventh in South America's World Cup qualifying group with 14 points from 12 matches, trailing Venezuela and Uruguay, who are both tied at 16 points.

The top four teams at the end of the qualifiers in October will go through to the World Cup finals in Brazil, while the fifth-placed team will enter a playoff against an Asian team in November for another berth.
