Headed by Vice-President of the Republic Dina Boluarte, Peru will participate —with a delegation also made up of Ministers Cesar Landa (Foreign Affairs) and Oscar Graham (Economy-Finance)— at the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), which takes place in the city of Davos, Switzerland, on May 24-25.

Every year, the WEF Annual Meeting or 'Davos Forum' becomes the global platform where leaders of governments, companies, international organizations, civil society, and academics meet to address critical issues for the world.

The main objectives of Peruvian participation in this event are: to position Peru as a leading player in the exploration of solutions to common global and regional problems; in the search for new forms of collaboration and convergence in areas of joint work with the WEF and the various actors involved; and in the development of alliances with the private sector and other interested stakeholders, towards an inclusive, supportive, and sustainable growth of the country and of Latin America as a whole.

Mrs. Boluarte will participate as a panelist in the session on The Economic Case for Education and in the session on the Amazon called A New Pathway for the Amazon Basin.

At those events, the Vice-President will exchange —along with other political and business leaders with a global reach— views on the importance of investing in education in the post-COVID-19 era, developing policies to meet the demands of the most vulnerable population (such as equality and inclusion, particularly of children and women), and alleviating the impact of the current food crisis that mainly affects developing countries.

On the other hand, Foreign Affairs Minister Cesar Landa will represent Peru in a session —led by WEF President Børge Bende— dedicated to reflecting on the current international scenario, as well as the actions and cooperation mechanisms necessary to manage strategic risks in the global political landscape.

Peru is committed to strategies that privilege international cooperation; peace; democracy and the rule of law; the protection of human rights and the environment; as well as to promoting responsible and inclusive economic policies that ensure the necessary macroeconomic balance; reduce inequality; as well as promote equity and equal opportunities for all.

Moreover, Peru's Vice-President and the Foreign Affairs Minister will hold various bilateral meetings within the framework of this event such as meetings with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Secretary-General, the Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam; the Foreign Affairs Ministers of Costa Rica and Finland; as well as senior executives of companies with investments in Peru and Latin America.
