Peru to follow path of free trade and global integration

Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Edgar Vasquez said on Tuesday that Peru will follow the path of macroeconomic responsibility, free trade, global integration, and improvement of competitiveness.

His remarks were made during a meeting with chairs and representatives of major business associations in the country.

In this sense, he reiterated the Government's strong will to continue working alongside the private sector in an articulated and strategic manner, and for the benefit of all Peruvians.

"The National Competitiveness Plan, the National Infrastructure Plan, the Safe Tourism Strategy, the Mipyme (micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises) Strategy, and sectoral strategies will continue to be implemented," Vasquez pointed out.

The minister met with heads of National Confederation of Private Business Institutions (Confiep), Foreign Trade Society (Comex Peru), Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL), Perucamaras, National Society of Industries, and Association of Peruvian Farming Producers (AGAP).

The gathering also included representatives of Domestic and Foreign Tour Operators Association (Apotur), Peruvian Association of Adventure Tourism, Ecotourism and Specialized Tourism (Aptae), National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur), among others.

It must be noted Peruvian exports totaled more than US$47.7 billion last year. In the case of tourism, 4.4 million foreigners visited the country in 2018.
