The Government of Peru reiterates its desire to continue building up the Strategic Partnership with Japan, as well as to strengthen closer historical ties of friendship, the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday.
In addition, the ministry extended the Peruvian Government's congratulations to Fumio Kishida on his recent election as Prime Minister of Japan.
In the same statement —posted on Twitter— the government department wished success to the new administration.
Moreover, it noted that Peru seeks to further cooperate on issues of common interest, such as the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, economic recovery, as well as science, technology, and innovation.
Fumio Kishida served as Japan's Foreign Affairs Minister between 2012 and 2017 and has been recently elected as Japan's new Prime Minister to succeed outgoing Yoshihide Suga.
