Peru thanks Andean Community member countries for successful meeting in Lima

The Government of Peru thanked Andean Community (CAN)State ministers, who met in Lima to discuss various issues aimed at improving security and combating transnational organized crime.

"Peru thanks the member countries of the Andean Community: Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador, as well as its General Secretariat, for a successful working day to improve the security of our citizens," the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote on social media.

The government agency also highlighted that the Andean Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, together with authorities in charge of internal, approved a Resolute Action Plan.

Precisely, the foreign affairs and security ministers of the four member countries of the Andean Community (CAN) approved on Sunday in Lima a series of joint and urgent actions against transnational organized crime, which includes a decisive action plan that prioritizes different areas of action on the matter.

After the ministerial meeting, CAN Secretary-General Gonzalo Gutierrez read the declaration adopted by the representatives of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

The decision to adopt the aforementioned plan, as well as to create a high-level group made up of officials designated by ministers of foreign affairs and internal security from CAN member countries, was included in said declaration.

The implementation of the plan will lead to the creation of sectoral security strategies by State ministers or internal security authorities from the member countries.
