Peru: Tax revenues up 4.4% in 1H 2019

17:27 | Lima, Jul. 11.

Tax revenues in Peru totaled S/57.976 billion (around US$17.649 billion) between January and June 2019, thus increasing 4.4% compared to the same period last year, the National Customs and Tax Administration Agency (Sunat) informed Thursday.

According to Sunat, Central Government's tax revenues (not taking into account tax refunds) reached S/8.402 billion (around US$2.558 billion) in June this year, a 0.3% increase compared to the similar month in 2018.

Likewise, the institution explained this result was underpinned by the positive outcomes —mainly— of audit and collection actions carried out by Sunat in the previous periods.

Furthermore, in just the first half of 2019, Sunat has surpassed the collection amount registered in the whole 2018-year.

The performance that might have been registered by the economic activity in May is filed and paid in June.

However, a decrease in imports has been observed in June 2019 compared to the same month last year.
