Peru's rainforest city of Tarapoto expects to welcome over 30,000 visitors in August during its 234th foundation anniversary.
Thus a series of sports, arts and culture-related activities will be carried out on the occasion.
August sees most visitors arriving in the area. Thus, it becomes the year's high-season.
"Last year, we saw close to 30,000 visitors, among national and foreign tourists, arriving for celebrations. However, this figure will be exceeded. We also witness there is great demand for lodging," Councilman Manuel Nieves told Andina news agency.
In this sense, local authorities currently work on security matters to guarantee safety across the city.
Aimed at local citizens and visitors, a campaign was launched to persuade people to keep streets, as well as emblematic and public spaces clean.
