09:30 | Cusco (Cusco region), May. 5.
A Swiss tourist, who was naked, and another visitor, who photographed him in the citadel of Machu Picchu (Cusco region), were caught and taken to the police station in the town of Machu Picchu —formerly called Aguas Calientes— by the security guards from the
Peruvian Ministry of Culture.
The foreigners were found near the Casa del Guardian (Guardian's House), which is located in the upper part of the Llaqta (citadel), from where the entire Inca site is usually photographed.
The visitor who evaded the surveillance was identified as Gilles Metroz, 26. He carried a Swiss passport.
The other tourist, Lucas Yves Marc Deveque, was a 23-year-old French national, who photographed Metroz.
The incident was immediately reported to the Peruvian National Police, and the foreign nationals were taken to the police station as their behavior was contrary to morals and good manners.
The head of DDC-Cusco, Maritza Rosa Candia, lamented the behavior of the visitors and called for complying with the provisions contained in the Visiting Regulations and the recommendations provided by the security staff of the Inca citadel.
