Peru has successfully completed the evaluation by the
, bringing the number of OECD technical committees whose evaluations it has passed to seven, official sources reported.
In this regard, Agrarian Development and Irrigation Minister Felipe Meza said the recently approved report "is a key tool" for consolidating public policies aimed at enhancing the sector's competitiveness and sustainability.
"The document recognizes the country's progress in aligning its regulations and best practices with the highest international standards," he added.
Last Monday, the minister participated in the inauguration of the presentation of the Agricultural Policies of Peru report, which featured remarks by OECD Director for Trade and Agriculture Marion Jansen.
The event brought together diplomatic and national authorities, experts, and industry leaders, who took part in panel discussions focused on competitiveness, innovation, financing, and governance.
During the high-level segment, Deputy Agrarian Development Policies and Supervision Minister Jorge Luis Saenz outlined the challenges facing the agricultural sector and the efforts underway to modernize it.
In turn, Minister Meza reaffirmed the Government's commitment to continue promoting a more modern, resilient, and inclusive agricultural sector to ensure "a successful transition" toward full OECD integration. Peru's accession process to the organization began in 2022.
Official sources said that 20 OECD committees have evaluated Peru to date. Of those, seven have approved the country's accession process: the committees on Regulatory Policy, Regional Development Policy, Consumer Policy, Education Policy, Health, Fisheries, and Agriculture.
