Peru's national soccer team coach Ricardo Gareca on Wednesday morning attended mass at Lima's Las Nazarenas Church honoring the Lord of Miracles.

As is known, Lord of Miracles procession is the most heavily attended religious festivity in the Inca country.

Every October, the icon —known as Christ of Pachacamilla— is venerated by a multitude of people bound together by the common hope that the Lord will protect and give them strength in their daily lives.

On the occasion, Gareca was joined by assistant coaches and Peruvian Soccer Federation President Edwin Oviedo.

It must be noted the national squad intends to qualify for Russia 2018, thus returning to a World Cup tournament since its last participation in Spain 1982.

Peru's soccer team ended fifth in the South American Qualifiers and will face New Zealand in playoffs this November seeking for tickets to the Eurasian country.
